Happy Monday!

Hey I have apparently never called a post “Happy Monday” before, so I got that going for me, which is nice.

Started off the weekend with a bang when I broke a crown eating lunch on friday. I’ve already had so much dental work this year and so much more to come that it’s just like, piling on. At least I’ll be close to my deductible after the next round and then hopefully they cover fixing the broken crown.

Saturday I had an event at the Children’s Museum… Kevin’s parents went out of town kinda last minute so we had him for part of the weekend. I tore the house apart friday night trying to find his farmboy Luke tunic and belt and couldn’t find them ANYWHERE. I suspect they are buried under stuff in the prop room – the prop room is currently a hoarder’s mess because we had to move everything out of Chase’s office while working on it, so I couldn’t even really look. I did try. I found his boots, and the poncho, and his pants. But not the tunic or belt. SO frustrating, like that is seriously my biggest pet peeve in the world, not being able to find something. It’s like my brain goes haywire and won’t let me do anything until I’ve found it.

But I never did, I had to give up and put him in Jedi Luke. Saturday morning ended up being hectic with my grandparents coming by and me trying to get both me and Kevin in costume and ready to get down to the museum by 10. I didn’t even start doing my hair and makeup til 9:45 so we were not going to make it on time.

Did get a fantastic photo of Mema on the scooter though.

So yeah since we were in a rush I had to skip some of my makeup routine, just throw everything on and go. I had wanted to take photos for a new Leia bun tutorial but obviously no time. We ended up being a half hour late… and it went longer than we thought it did so we couldn’t stay for the whole thing.

But they had a really nice set-up and had it nice and cool in there for us.

Kevin kept getting in trouble for looking at the movie screen (they were showing the Lego Star Wars movies) instead of the camera, LOL.

Chase managed to catch this special moment of sibling fighting:

(We had a down moment with no kids in there, so I was pretending to try to flip kevin over in a headlock. He was giggling, no Kevins were harmed in the making of this photo.)

So we had to scoot out around 1, grabbed lunch and played with snapchat on the ride back to meet up with the fam.

Originally we were going to be doing a Cooper Young event that night, but that got canceled – I was going to try to head over to the Roller Derby event instead but found out mom had gotten tickets for us to see her play that night. So we headed out to that. It was hilarious.

Sunday we worked on Chase’s office and got the rest of his new furniture put together. Luna helped.

We ran to ikea to get him a new light fixture. Got me one too, and some other things… ran a few more errands, came home. Chase put my new light fixture up but it’s not going to work. Thought it would be brighter than what I had but it’s not, creates weird shadows in my sewing room.

Sunday afternoon I finally got around to sewing some more.

I got the under-dress finished – collar facing in, sleeves in and hemmed, and the bottom hem done. Pressed my seams, just need to press the hem now.
On the tunic I got the sleeve pick-ups sewn in, hemmed. Started working on the bottom hem of that and discovered that somehow my outer layer of the crinkle material was wider than my lining, so I had to take the side seams apart and cut out the excess. Then put them back together and got it trimmed and hemmed.

All that’s left, sewing-wise, is doing the lower white sleeves. I’ll finish that tonight.

I picked up a pewter cord at Hobby Lobby – I had to remove the strip of fabric at the top meant for you to sew it onto curtains or whatever. It looks decent but needs a metallic content…. I have some silver embroidery floss, so I’m going to try to just add some silver strands around it to give it that “glint.” I’m also going to try to work in some of the small weights I bought a while back to give it some heft.

Haven’t decided what to do for anything else yet. I’ll get there.
